I was a fool

An intelligent but skeptical man frequently had conversations with a preacher, but always stumbled at the fact of the Resurrection. At length they were separated. The preacher did not see the skeptic for years. Meanwhile, the skeptic became a believer in Christ. The first time the preacher saw his friend, he asked, “And what do you think now of the Resurrection?”

“Oh,” said he, “two words from Paul conquered me — they are: ‘Thou fool’ (I Corinthians 15:36). It was no argument, no satisfying my objections, but God convincing me that I was a fool!”

–Sunday School Times

“For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” – 1 Corinthians 1:25

When God Ran

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son,

so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16, NLT

All that the Bible talks about in both doctrine and narrative

is the story that focuses in and tells us about how God has actively pursued us.

It is not the story about how we have sought Him.

~paraphrased statement of Dr. David Wells~

How the MIND sees the FACE

Perspective of Belief

Dark Horses

We’ll survive the rain.

We’ll survive the pain.

The world taunts us as cowards. They label us as weak. They scoff at our very existence. They push us around as if we’re mere toys.

Society thinks we’re nothing, that we are out of this world, out of this life.

We were born for the great blue heavens. We were born for the sunrise.

Raise the flags!

Resonate and sing the anthem!

We are rising from the ashes! We are standing up from the dark, muddy ground!

We are the dark horses!

Faith is knowing that God is real and that you can trust in God’s promises. You cannot trust someone who isn’t there, nor can you rely on someone whose promises are not reliable. This is why faith is talked about as the substance of things hoped for and as the evidence of things not seen. Both words carry with them a sense of reality. Our hope is not wishful thinking. The Christian is called to see things as they really are, and not as she would simply like them to be. Faith does not make God real. On the contrary, faith is the response to a real God who wants to be known to us.

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,”

Hebrews 11:1

Real Life

Real life has problems. God will protect us from some of them but He also will walk us through most of them. He reminds us that in this Christian life, we will experience pain. But He also reminds that we are called to live through suffering and not with it.

We are not to go around carrying sorrow in our hearts meeting occasional joys. We go around carrying the eternal joy in Christ and although there may be certain times of sorrow, these will never displace the happiness and peace that God has given us.

For the Christian, joy remains central. Sorrow, at best, is only marginal.

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

1 Peter 5:10

Words reveal a man’s thoughts.

Actions display a man’s convictions.

Decisions unveil a man’s priority

But tears are the one that give us a glimpse at his heart.

“What we cry about often tells us what concerns us.”

Stick with your friends.. and more importantly,

stick by them.

It’s amazing when a Christian looks back at his life and sees the things God has done for him – especially when he realizes how God put things into place so he could hear the gospel and be saved.

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”

Treasures Forever

You can’t take your money with you when you die, but you can send it on ahead.

Invest wisely.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

– Matthew 6:19-21 –

God Hears Us

When we encounter problems, our usual tendency is to face them head-on thinking that we are strong enough to overcome it.

What we often forget is that we are not alone –we have a Companion who is always with us.

Christians do not pray in vain.

Because for all days, all times, and all places…

God hears us.

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

1 John 5:14-1

“For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall.

But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles,

They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.”

Isaiah 40:30-31, The Message

When the going gets tough, the tough rely on God.

“Transformation doesn’t come in big packages of loud music, big crowds, dynamic preaching and the lifting of hands.

Transformation begins in small, quiet revivals done everyday in one’s home, on one’s own will, and alone with the life-changing God.”

It’s sad to see Christians nowadays using camps and conferences as the sole source of fuel for their passion for God.

The youth come to Christian camps and conferences with the thought that the event was made to transform the life of an individual.

But the truth is that Christian camps and conferences are made only to help transform the life of any individual.

For true transformation to take place, the individual must turn to God’s Word on his own free will and live it out through laborious doing.
