No room for pride

Whatever we are and wherever we will become, it will only be by the grace of God. Stay humble.
Don’t be a glory-grabber. There’s no room for pride.”

” Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”

– 1 Corinthians 1:31

“Don’t forget that all that’s going to happen now began with the fresh start from God.
Be happy when God performs a miracle through you.”

Look Up!

“A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.”

― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

“Pride comes before being destroyed and a proud spirit comes before a fall.”

—Proverbs 16:18 (NLV)

I am the very reason for my downfall.

A Letter from the Hotel

I once was a man, well to-do and content.

I had great friends for whom my time was well spent.

I had a power that would send people seething in envy.

But then again, I never realized that to me my life was only lent.

♦ ♦ ♦

I reveled in the streets as if no one was there.

I laughed and was merry as if I had no care.

I got what I want, even if others were hurt.

I thought, “This is the life!” until I fell for a snare.

 ♦ ♦ ♦

I fell and fell hard with the Spectre on my back.

It didn’t let me go, never gave me any slack.

I cried out, begging for a second chance.

But still the car crashed into a tree off the road’s track.

White-masked men said I do not have any hope.

I lost too much blood; my body can no longer cope.

Is this all true? Am I really leaving the world?

Before I knew it, darkness entangled me like a rope.

♦ ♦ ♦

Flames burst into power as I found myself weeping.

Loneliness and Fear were embracing me; fruits of anguish were they reaping.

How could I have let life fly past me by?

I found out too late that it was Elyon whom I should have been worshipping.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am still a man, however, am suffering because of time stupidly spent.

I have no friends here; all are crying in torment.

Only he has power and I am experiencing his wrath.

But then again, you are still living, so don’t waste your life that’s only for rent.

♦ ♦ ♦

“This is the testimony in essence: God gave us eternal life; the life is in his Son.

So, whoever has the Son, has life; whoever rejects the Son, rejects life.”

— 1 John 5:11-12 (MSG)

Everybody’s Battle

“A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.”

― C.S. Lewis

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.”

— Proverbs 11:2

Pride

elevates
us to glory.
It limits
our view
of what
God wants
in our
lives and
desensitizes
us from the
truth which
ultimately
leads to our
down fall.

Twisted Nobody

“We love the truth when it enlightens us, but we hate it when it convicts us…”

Augustine hit the core of how we live so selfishly; never wanting to really embrace the real truth and reject truthful lies. And most of the time, when confronted with reality, we hide ourselves from it and fake our way out into believing that we define the truth.

We are even so accustomed to disguise ourselves from other people that in the end we disguise ourselves from ourselves leading us nowhere but the taste of our own destructive selfishness – all because we love twisting the truth for our lies.

Drop the lies and hold on to the Truth. Experience, for yourselves, Him who is the Truth and you will be set free – from a twisted nobody to a truthful somebody.

You Are Small

“Can you catch the eye of the beautiful Pleiades sisters,
or distract Orion from his hunt?
Can you get Venus to look your way,
or get the Great Bear and her cubs to come out and play?
Do you know the first thing about the sky’s constellations
and how they affect things on Earth?”

Job 38:31-33, The Message

Man thinks he’s so big and powerful,

But the heavens proves him otherwise.

Me vs. Me

Ain’t no killer like pride.

No killer like I.

No killer like what’s inside.

~Switchfoot~

Within the deepest recesses of my being, a fierce battle is fought.

I am my enemy. It is me against me.

I am the war inside. I am the war I fight.

The world forgets the heart.

But I remember…remember that this is where the combat begins.

Underneath the skin, underneath all hopes and achievements, every battle comes from the fight within.
