Loved Before Time

“So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him,
because Jesus was going to pass that way.”
— Luke 19:4

God’s love for us goes before the moment we realise the beauty of it. Like how He loves Zacchaeus,
the Sycamore tree has already been there all along awaiting for Zachaeus’
“God moment”.

Live!

Still, it’s what GOD had in mind all along, to crush him with pain.

The plan was that he give himself as an offering for sin

so that he’d see life come from it—life, life, and more life.

And GOD’s plan will deeply prosper through him.

Isaiah 53:10 The Message

No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, no matter what you’ve done,

GOD bled his heart out for you because He loves you.

And He wants you to live.

He Started It

Man is not made godly because he chose to love God.

Man can be made godly because God loved him first.

Grace Magnified

“God is none other than the Savior of our wretchedness. So we can only know God well by knowing our iniquities…Those who have known God without knowing their wretchedness have not glorified him, but have glorified themselves.”

— Blaise Pascal

One would appreciate God’s grace most after one has accepted his sinfulness first.

What Love Is This?

“What love is this, that You gave Your life for me
And made a way for me to know You
And I confess You’re always enough for me
You’re all I need…”

—Kari Jobe

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.”

(an excerpt from John 3:16-17, The Message)

I am always in awe at Your wonderful love that I can’t even measure… such a wonderful love that You’ve chosen me to treasure.

Dunamis

In 1866 Alfred Nobel invented an explosive made of nitroglycerin absorbed in a porous material. It was by far the most powerful explosive that had so far been invented.

When Nobel and his friends saw what his invention could do, and had to decide on a name, they sought for the strongest possible word for power–in any language. The word they finally chose was the Greek word “dunamis”, from which our word dynamite is derived.

This word, in Greek also the strongest word for power, is used again and again in the New Testament for the power of Christ, the Gospel and the Christian life.

— Paul Lee Tan ({4536}, “Encyclopedia of 15,000 Illustrations”)

Philip Yancey grasped the very essence of why dunamis was used for Christ when he affirmed that “no one who meets Jesus ever stays the same.” For the strongest power one could ever imagine belongs to the One who created it.

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.

Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

(Ephesians 3:16-19, NLT)

The Whole Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)

Life is a battlefield. If we go out to war inadequately equipped and protected, it would be difficult to survive; hence, it is imperative that we as God’s soldiers take up His Whole Armor for us—

The Belt of Truth, The Breastplate of Righteousness, The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, The Shield of Faith, The Helmet of Salvation and The Sword of the Spirit

…then pray at all times!

Savior’s Embrace

“Because God has made us for Himself, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him.”

I Ain’t Good Enough

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:8-10

I love and serve not because I want to be saved.

I love and serve because I am already saved.

Drenched in Grace

“One leak will sink a ship, and one sin will destroy a sinner.”

— John Bunyan

It wasn’t so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn’t know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience.

We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It’s a wonder God didn’t lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.

Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.

Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing!

No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.

(Ephesians 2:1-10, MSG)

Salvation is by works…not ours, but HIS!

“…It’s God’s gift from start to finish!”

Taste God’s Goodness

To crave for God’s goodness is to crave for growth

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

1 Peter 2:1-3 (NIV)

… and this growth is necessary for life.

Closer to Truth

Ralph Wood, professor of theology and literature at Baylor University, once asked a group of seminary students to compare two individuals: the modern, astute collegian who insists that sin and the fall of humanity are fallacies invented by the superstitious, and a primitive young man in a remote village whom you find in the woods sacrificing a chicken on a makeshift altar. “Which man is farther from the truth?” he asked.

The students hemmed and hawed but hesitantly agreed that the pagan boy, however crudely, understood something the other did not.

There is a need in our lives for atonement. There is a need for blood.

“Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Hebrews 9:22, ESV

Shall We Dance?

Having Jesus in my life is like dancing with delight in the rain of redemption.

A fascinating feeling. An endless elation.

Dancing with my Savior.

Try it, you’ll love it!

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”

— Psalm 34:8 NLT
